MFF: On Location #6 The Alps- Filming the Eiger with IMAX Cameras

Episode 6 of "MFF: On Location" for "The Alps" shows you how the MFF camera crew was able to use the IMAX camera to get the amazing shots you see in the film. They dealt with sheer rock faces, unpredictable weather, and harsh ice and snow to get some of the most spectacular footage ever shot on the Eiger.

MFF: On Location #5 The Alps - Filming An Avalanche

Episode 5 of "MFF: On Location" for "The Alps" shows you how to safely get an IMAX camera in the path of a deadly avalanche. Avalanche researchers like Christine Pielmeier trigger avalanches to study their attributes. For 'The Alps', the MFF crew filmed the second largest avalanche they had ever triggered.

Amanda Shaw, star of "Hurricane on the Bayou", recently appeared on GirlTalk, a section of the Saturday Light Brigade radio show to talk about her music, the loss of wetlands in America, the impact of Hurricane Katrina on her family, and her first IMAX appearance.

Broadcasting from Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, The Saturday Light Brigade is a radio program featuring acoustic music and family fun. Broadcast since 1978, it is one of the longest-running public radio programs in the United States.

MFF: On Location #4 The Alps- Climbing Partners: Robert & Daniela Jasper

Episode 4 of "MFF: On Location" for "The Alps" brings us into the world of Robert and Daniela Jasper. Both world-renowned climbers, the team served as guides on the expedition captured for the film. Famous for his knowledge of The Eiger's north face, Robert first attempted to climb the mountain at the young age of sixteen. Since that time, he has grown into an expert on The Eiger, scaling the wall in over fourteen instances throughout his lifetime. Accompanied by his loving wife Daniela, herself a well-known ice climber, the duo form a team that effortlessly aided John Harlin III in reaching his goal of the Eiger's summit.

MFF: On Location #3 The Alps - Climbing Families

Episode 3 of "MFF: On Location" for "The Alps" goes behind the scenes to get a view of the family bonds of The Eiger climbing expedition team. The story dates back to the 1960s when John Harlin III’s legendary mountain-climbing father died in a world famous accident on The Eiger – John was 9 years old at the time and the event has haunted him ever since. Now, John is making this first climb in his father’s footsteps when his daughter is close to 9 years old. Also meet husband-wife climbing team Robert and Daniela Jasper who joined John on this historic climb up the treacherous North Face.

Episode 2 of "MFF: On Location" for "The Alps" gives a closer look at the courageous main character of the film. An accomplished climber, extreme skier, adventurer, writer and editor who grew up partly in Switzerland, John Harlin III serves as the audience's intrepid and informative guide in THE ALPS. At the center of the story is his emotional quest to climb the myth-enshrouded Eiger, the mountain that took his father's life 40 years ago.

MFF: On Location #6 Hurricane on the Bayou - The Music of Amanda Shaw

Episode 6 of "MFF On Location" highlights New Orleans-based cajun musician, Amanda Shaw. Amanda has been a fiddling virtuoso since age seven, when she became the youngest person ever to play with the Baton Rouge Symphony as a soloist. Making the transition from Classical to Cajun, Amanda soon brought her own innovative crossover sound to the fore, gaining international fans. She and her band, The Cute Guys, have received raves on the festival circuit, Rollingstone.com called her “a fiddling wizard” and she recently opened for Cher at the VH1 Divas/Cher Farewell Tour. In January, Amanda was able to return to her heavily damaged school in New Orleans and will soon begin recording her first major album.

Tab has made wetlands conservation an integral part of his successful music career, which led to his appearance in "Hurricane on the Bayou". Episode 4 of "MFF On Location" features the crew of "Hurricane on the Bayou" returning to New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. They were able to document the terrible destruction in the city, as well as aid the rescue effort however they could.
